Understanding Energy, Chakras, and Essential Oils
Atoms. Vibration. Frequency. Everything on earth has a connection in some way to these energy pathways. But what do they have to do with essential oils and our health?
Let’s dive into the scientific aspects of how frequencies in essential oils can influence our emotional state and vibes!
Energy, Vibrational Frequency, & Entrainment
If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration
-Nikola Tesla
Vibrational frequency refers to the rate at which energy vibrates, which can be measured in hertz (Hz). Everything in the universe, including objects, organisms, and even thoughts, emits energy at specific frequencies. The concept of vibrational frequency is fundamental to understanding the interconnectedness of all things and plays a crucial role in various aspects of health and well-being.
Frequency is how many waves pass a given point in a specific unit of time. Frequency is directly proportional to the energy. The higher the frequency, the higher the energy.
The Principle of Entrainment, proposed by physicist and philosopher Christian Huygens in the 17th century, states that when two oscillating bodies are brought into proximity, they will eventually synchronize their rhythms. This principle has profound implications in fields ranging from physics to biology and psychology. In the context of health, the Law of Entrainment suggests that the body and its various systems, including brainwaves, heartbeats, and cellular processes, can be influenced and harmonized by external stimuli, such as sound, light, and electromagnetic fields.
How We Incorporate Energy in Our Wellness
People use the principles of vibrational frequency and the Law of Entrainment in health and wellness practices in several ways:
- Aromatherapy: Through inhalation and the topical application of the pure essences from plants, we can harness the power of scent to influence mood, emotions, and energy levels. You may immediately feel more alert, relaxed, or excited. You may feel the release of negative emotions and tension.
- Sound Healing: Sound therapy involves using specific frequencies and vibrations, such as those produced by singing bowls, tuning forks, or recorded music, to entrain the body’s rhythms and promote relaxation, stress reduction, and healing.
- Meditation & Mindfulness: Meditation techniques often involve focusing on the breath or repeating mantras, which can help synchronize brainwave patterns and induce a state of deep relaxation and heightened awareness.
- Bio-feedback & Neuro-feedback: These therapeutic techniques use electronic monitoring devices to provide real-time feedback on physiological processes such as heart rate variability, brainwave activity, and muscle tension. By observing and adjusting these biofeedback signals, individuals can learn to regulate their responses to stress and improve overall health and well-being.
- Light Therapy: Light therapy, or phototherapy, utilizes specific wavelengths of light to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes and regulate circadian rhythms. This can be particularly beneficial for treating seasonal affective disorder (SAD), sleep disorders, and mood disturbances.
- Energy Healing Modalities: Practices such as Reiki, acupuncture, and qi gong work with the body’s subtle energy fields to promote balance and harmony on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels. These modalities often involve the transfer of energy from practitioner to client to restore energetic equilibrium and support healing.
Overall, understanding and harnessing the power of vibrational frequency and the Law of Entrainment can offer valuable insights and tools for optimizing health, promoting relaxation, and enhancing overall well-being. By aligning with the natural rhythms of the universe, individuals can cultivate greater vitality, resilience, and harmony in their lives.
Chakra Energy
Chakras, a Sanskrit term meaning wheel or mystical circle, are energy centers within the human body that have been recognized and utilized for thousands of years in various spiritual and healing traditions.
Each tradition offers its own interpretations and practices for working with chakras, emphasizing their role in maintaining balance and harmony within the individual and the universe.
The energy centers are believed to correspond to different aspects of our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, forming a foundational concept in practices like yoga, Ayurveda, and traditional Chinese medicine.
There are seven chakras from the pelvis, up to the crown of the head. Each houses an energy source, organs, an endocrine gland, emotions and body systems that also correlate with the wheel categories in the iTOVi Scan Reports. See downloadable PDF: iTOVi & Chakras.

How We Incorporate Chakras in Today’s Wellness
In today’s world, chakras continue to hold significance for individuals seeking holistic approaches to health and wellness. People use chakra-based practices for a variety of reasons, including:
- Aromatherapy: The natural properties of essential oils can help balance these energy centers in the body, fostering a sense of harmony and well-being. Through its holistic approach, aromatherapy offers a pathway to elevate vibrations and enhance overall vitality.
- Energy Healing: Chakra balancing and alignment are believed to promote the free flow of energy throughout the body, addressing blockages or imbalances that may manifest as physical ailments or emotional distress.
- Spiritual Growth: Many individuals view chakras as portals to higher states of consciousness and spiritual awakening. Working with chakras can facilitate inner exploration, self-discovery, and connection to the divine.
- Emotional Well-being: Each chakra is associated with specific emotions and psychological attributes. By addressing the energetic imbalances within particular chakras, individuals may experience greater emotional resilience, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence.
- Physical Health: While not a replacement for medical treatment, chakra-based practices are often used in conjunction with conventional healthcare to support overall well-being. By addressing the underlying energetic imbalances, some believe that physical ailments may be alleviated or prevented.
- Mind-Body Integration: Chakra work emphasizes the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. Through practices such as yoga, meditation, breath work, and energy healing, individuals can cultivate a deeper understanding of themselves and their place in the world.
Chakras offer a multifaceted framework for understanding and nurturing the human experience. Whether seeking healing, spiritual growth, or simply a greater sense of balance and harmony, many find value in exploring the ancient wisdom of the chakra system in today’s modern world.
Essential Oils & Aromatherapy
For most people, our sense of smell is more powerful than other senses, and the recognition of smell is immediate. (Other senses like touch travel to the brain via the spinal cord.) When we inhale an essential oil, its scent is carried by olfactory receptor cells in the nose to the olfactory system, which then sends the aroma to the brain, namely the limbic system, the center of emotions and emotional behavior. Mood enhancers like serotonin and endorphins are released, which can alter our emotional states. Smell also has the strongest link to the subconscious mind and also to your collective unconscious mind where memories are stored.
Through entrainment, the oil’s higher frequency is claimed to increase the vibratory rate of an individuals cells, literally RAISING VIBES! Some studies have claimed that when our body is vibrating at a lower frequency, it can invite all sorts of unwanted feelings and possibly illness.
The vibrational frequency of essential oils are claimed to be some of the highest of any natural substance known to man. Many studies have shown the affects these oils can have on emotions and body systems. Even at iTOVi, we similarly measure rates of essential oils in order to imitate frequencies to send to the body during a scan.
Using iTOVi Scans & Essential Oils in Energy Wellness
Running regular scans can be a great way to balance your emotions, chakras, and personalize your essential oil use!
The iTOVi scan reports may identify areas of the body that are experiencing stress or imbalance, which may also be correlated with the concept of blocked or overactive chakras. For instance, if the scan suggests essential oils or supplements to support emotional well-being, these recommendations can be tailored to correspond with the Heart Chakra, which governs love, compassion, and emotional balance.
Practitioners and individuals can incorporate the iTOVi scan results into energy healing sessions to target specific chakras or energy centers. By integrating the scan’s recommendations with techniques such as Reiki, sound healing, or crystal therapy, it’s possible to address both physical and energetic imbalances in the body.
Scan Reports offer personalized insights into which essential oils, supplements, or lifestyle changes may support overall well-being. By incorporating these recommendations into a holistic wellness plan that includes chakra-balancing practices such as meditation, yoga, or breath work, individuals can address both the physical and energetic aspects of health.
Regular iTOVi scans can be used to track progress in chakra balancing and energy alignment over time. By comparing scan results over weeks or months, individuals can observe improvements in areas of imbalance and make adjustments to their wellness routines accordingly.
